Legalisation of trade unions in France

This law, put forward by Waldeck-​​Rousseau, Minister of the Interior, was the first law in France to allow trade unions. However, it set very strict rules for their creation and organisation. Furthermore, until 1946, trade unions were banned in the civil service.
