PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN BANQUE DE FRANCE AND CNAM MUSEUM

On 23 May 2014, Serge Chambaud, director of the Musée des Arts et Métiers, which is part of the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (CNAM), and Marc-Olivier Strauss-Kahn, Director General for Economics and International Relations at the Banque de France, signed a scientific partnership agreement concerning the Cité de l’économie et de la monnaie project.

For several years, the Banque de France and the Musée des Arts et Métiers have established a cooperation that has resulted in an agreement in principle on the loan by the museum of a coin minting press dating back to 1845. This press will be showcased at the Cité de l’économie.

The partnership agreement formalises, strengthens and extends this cooperation. In particular, it provides for the sharing of experiences on the presentation of collections as well as joint actions in the field of education and for the organisation of temporary exhibitions, aimed at a wide public including school children.
