This indicator gives the number of commercial bank branches that provide banking and financial services to their customers.
Taking all countries together, there were around 570,000 bank branches in 2013. India, with 17.5% of bank branches, is the country where there are the most. It is followed by China, the United States and Brazil, which each has more than 60,000 branches.
As for Africa, it has 5% of the world's bank branches, with three-quarters of them concentrated in only nine countries.
